Lip Slurs For Tuba

Until now, there has not been a bass clef tuba book entirely dedicated to the lip slur. Lip slurs are specific exercises designed to develop flexibility and are essential in building strength and developing technique. This collection of lip slurs, offering exercises for multiple stages of ability and development, serves both young tuba students and more advanced players. It will surely improve the playing of all tuba players!

New Release

The recording features musicians and colleagues of Swoboda, including horn professor John Ericson; euphonium/tuba professors Gail Robertson, Matt Tropman and Ben Ordaz; and pianist Gail Novak.

The album includes works by Aliyah Danielle, Jose Flores, Dorothy Gates, Robertson and Amit Weiner. Swoboda, an Eastman tuba artist, chose composers he knows personally and whose writing for tuba he wanted to explore.

The title track, a quartet by Mexican composer Flores, examines cultural identity through the interaction of euphonium and tuba. Flores imagines a world where diversity is embraced, and the final movement celebrates that ideal.

Swoboda previously released four albums: Table for Three (2014), Fanfare and Flourish (2012), Shamanic Journey(2011) and Deanna’s Wonderland (2000).

Identity was recorded at Tempest Recording, mastered at Vault Mastering and released on Soundset Recordings. It is also available on Amazon.
